Fees and Insurance

Standard fee
$110 per 50-minute session
$130 for the initial assessment
Limited sliding scale fees available.
I charge the regular fee for missed appointments or cancellations without 24 hour notice.

Payment
Payment is due at the end of each session by cash or check.

Private Self-Pay
Many people choose to pay for therapy themselves as a way to secure their privacy and for increased independence in choices. Please be aware that should you opt to use insurance benefits, I will need to provide a diagnosis to your insurance company. This diagnosis and treatment becomes part of your health insurance record.

Insurance
I am an in-network provider for Medicare Part B and will submit the necessary paperwork for payment. You will be responsible for any co-payments for each session. Please be aware that your copayment for sessions seen under Medicare is 50% of the fee (unless you have supplemental insurance that covers the balance).

Most other insurance plans will cover all or a portion of my fee. If you would like to use your insurance, please contact your insurance company and ask what coverage you have to see an “out-of-network provider.” You will pay for the sessions as we go, and I will provide you with a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

When you schedule your initial appointment, we will discuss your insurance benefits and issues in more detail. It is a good idea to call your insurance company in advance and check on your benefit coverage by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health benefits for outpatient psychotherapy?
  • What is my annual deductible for mental health and has it been met?
  • Is there a co-pay?
  • What is the co-insurance percentage per therapy session?
  • How many sessions are allowed in a year?
  • Are there any restrictions in terms of diagnosis covered?
  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?

Medical Savings Account Plans
Psychotherapy services are generally eligible expenses for reimbursement from medical flexible-spending accounts. These tax-free medical savings plans may reimburse you for any psychotherapy bills that you pay out-of-pocket (up to the amount that you have put in the plan for the fiscal year). Check with your employer for details.
